Ingrown toenail treatments and Nail surgery under local anaesthetic

Ingrown toenails are a common problem caused by an abnormally wide shaped nail and /or tight footwear and/or poor nail cutting technique. We offer conservative and surgical management for this painful condition. Conservative management will involve removal of painful spikes, nail packing to prevent recurrence and advice on appropriate nail cutting technique. If these measures fail a minor surgical procedure called a Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) can be performed under local anaesthetic in the clinic as an alternative to an expensive hospital procedure under general anaesthetic. This is a very successful treatment option for those toenails chronically or acutely ingrown.
